I would like to hear of your experiences, whether negative or positive.
It looks to me like eBay needs good, reliable competition.

    yes, craig’s list, craig’s list and ebay are probably the 2 best and safest.

    I’ve used etsy for handmade baby blankets as shower gifts. I like that I don’t have to wait for something to finish auction… Maybe that disqualifies me! haha

    i have found that most of the time you can find things in better condition, and get them faster if you go on amazon.com i think Ebay is a waste of your time unless you are loking for a very rare collectors item.

    yahoo used to have yahoo auctions. I used it a lot for buying things. Then ebay boomed and that is that. Ebay is so embedded into our society now, it would take a major player to offer them competition. I am so ebay addicted it is not even funny!

    Yes there are good free and good less-expensive auction sites that do offer the buyer or seller or trader or giver a good quick easy place to buy sell trade or give away items.
    Check Yahoo auctions as well as these other sites.
    You may be able to find the item or service you seek for no charge! Try to do an Internet search for whatever item you want to buy and also try to search for it with the word free, or with the words free and used, or with the word give or the word swap.

    I once bid on something from Overstock.com auctions. I didn’t win it; so I can’t give a transaction review, but I felt self bidding there, as I shop at overstock.com (the store) occasionally. The problem was that I could never find what I wanted…not enough “stuff” listed, and the search wasn’t as user friendly as ebays.

    ~~~ It looks like they’ve updated their site since I last used it. Looks much more user friendly now…I might venture back over there :)
    Craigslist isn’t an auction…it’s a buy and sell website with classified ads; not sure why everyone is confused about that.
    BTW: Love your new Avatar! Is that an Afghan puppy? So fluffy :D
    I have used Craigslist.com and Bebo.com and Google.com and MySpace.com to list my house for sale. I have had a few inquiries from Craigslist ads, but it hasn’t been very positive. My house is STILL for sale. You may have better luck than I did depending on what you are selling.
    My cousin frequents craigs list and is even putting stuff on there to sell. she says its easy and fast.she actually perfers craigs over ebay..but my dad on the other hand likes ebay (though he’s never used anyone else beisdes ebay) he just likes them because it is easy for him and doesnt want to change.. i think that is ebays competion, craigs list.
    I’ve been using Ebay for awhile, mostly for buying. Only had one bad experience where the seller wouldn’t contact UPS when a package had been misdelivered. UPS said the seller needed to contact them to proceed further with my claim.
    But now I go between Ebay and Amazon, I go where I can what I want for the best price and the least amount of time. Amazon has been great for books.
    My son has had excellent results buying from ebay.
    He has purchased a lot of things.
    The last was a slightly damaged Amana built in oven.
    The damage was so small that the average eye could not see it.
    My daughter-in-law loves the way it bakes.
    If he has ever been displeased he has not mentioned it.
    Good luck to you. ~~
    There are several auction sites to choose from but ebay is number one for auction sites. Ebay has been on the internet for several years
    and there are other auction sites for you to choose from.
    Hope I’ve been of some help.
    Happy Holidays!
    This was a good question.
    I have been a seller on Ebay for 9 years…
    There used to be GOLDS auction, Yahoo Auctions, Amazon, and a few others. They never really got off the ground like Ebay, and Ebay has become the most reliable venue out there.
    Golds was a small community oriented auction site. The people were friendly and the auctions were cool. Too bad they went under. I would have loved to have taken all my Ebay business over there when I was still active w/ Ebay
  25. #25 Zack O said at 4:25 pm on August 15th, 2008:
    yes i have. i use “amazon” very often.
    eBay can be reliable, but it isn’t always, just like most online auctions, because it all depends on who you are buying from.
    i only buy from very well rated sellers, after a few frustrating purchases, one of which was broken, and another took three weeks to arrive.
    amazon can also vary, but for me, it seems more reliable. it’s the best place to get books, DVDs, and CDs. but they now sell even more, such as toys for kids.
    Craigslist has worked well for me, but there is another free site I like. I bought some stuff on blujay.com a couple of weeks ago and it was fine, although a bit limited. I have bought and sold on stubhub.com. They are expensive, but Ebay is getting there too.
